How to start knitting is harder to master than making right i false stitch. And for the simple reason that the first row is only at the beginning, and the right and wrong eyes throughout the work. There are a number of ways you can start working. The simplest technique is presented here. Especially the formation of the first needle eye.
Wrap the knitting needle around the forefinger and thumb on your left hand so that you do not even start from the front of the palm as in the picture. The length should be two and a half times larger than the desired width of your work. With your thumb and forefinger, thread the thread and put your knitting needle in your right hand.
Apply the needle by threading it between the forefinger and the left hand
Then knit the knitting needle underneath the thread on the front of the palm that is wrapped around the left hand of the thumb. Push the thread under your thumb and slide it between threads wrapped around your thumb.
Tighten and now on the needle you have two eyes. The first you formed when you pulled the thread between your thumb and forefinger and the other you used to spin. Re-tie the threads between the thumb and forefinger and repeat the procedure until you have set the required number of eyes. Make sure your eyelids are not tight enough before you can normally knit later.
